about.

habitable scale:
Our farm was created and is maintained using human-powered tools, possible thanks to it's scale; just 1/20th of an acre in production. We do a lot with that space. With a csa membership maxed out at eight families, we are growing food for our community at the most local level.

habitable planet:
Our produce is grown without the use of chemicals. Soil amendments include lime, organic kelp meal, and poultry manure composted on-site. By using on-site resources whenever we can, we hope to 'close the loop' as much as possible, reducing our farm's inputs and wastes.

habitable city:
We are working to create a refuge for the vertebrate and invertebrate native fauna of our region, such as snakes, hummingbirds, and bees.  Pollinators and predators navigating the built environment of the city can find comfortable respite here as part of a diverse micro-ecosystem.

habitable neighborhood:
The Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood includes two 'food deserts', lacking ready access to fresh, healthful, and affordable food. We strive to be one oasis in that desert. With enough oases, our neighborhood could be transformed into a food paradise.

habitable home:
We began our farm with the goal of growing as much food as possible for our family, and we quickly found that our efforts could nourish a broader community to the benefit of all. Thanks for the shared abundance!
